Network Traffic

Network Traffic Overview

The Network Traffic section in DeskGate provides a detailed and transparent view of how network resources are used by users across the organization. This module focuses on incoming and outgoing data activity and presents it in a structured chart table that allows administrators to clearly observe network behavior at user level.

By visualizing real network traffic instead of relying on estimates, DeskGate enables organizations to understand how data flows through their infrastructure and which users, applications, and ports contribute most to overall network usage.

Incoming and Outgoing Data Analysis

DeskGate continuously tracks both incoming and outgoing network traffic generated by users. This analysis provides visibility into data transfer volumes, helping teams understand bandwidth consumption patterns and detect unusual or excessive network activity.

By separating inbound and outbound traffic, administrators can better evaluate data usage behavior, identify potential bottlenecks, and ensure that network resources are used efficiently and in line with organizational policies.

User, Port, and Application Visibility

The Network Traffic view associates network activity with specific users, ports, and program names. This level of detail allows administrators to understand not only how much data is transferred, but also which applications and network ports are responsible for that traffic.

By linking traffic data to users and applications, DeskGate helps organizations detect unauthorized usage, validate compliance with network policies, and quickly investigate abnormal network behavior when required.

Group-Based User Filtering

Network Traffic data can be filtered based on user groups by activating the “Used” option in the group list. This enables administrators to focus specifically on active users within selected groups and analyze their network behavior in isolation.

Group-based filtering supports targeted analysis for departments, teams, or functional units, making it easier to compare network usage patterns and apply group-specific network controls or optimizations.

Chart Table Visualization and Graph Control

All network traffic data is presented in a chart table format designed for clarity and operational analysis. Administrators can change the graph shape to visualize traffic data from different perspectives, supporting both high-level summaries and detailed inspection.

Graph customization allows teams to highlight trends, compare users, and quickly identify dominant traffic sources, improving overall understanding of network usage dynamics.

Excel Export for Network Reporting

Network Traffic data displayed in DeskGate can be downloaded as an Export Excel file, enabling offline analysis, structured reporting, and long-term storage of network usage records.

Excel export ensures seamless integration with existing reporting, audit, and security review workflows. By combining detailed visibility with exportable data, DeskGate Network Traffic delivers an enterprise-ready solution for monitoring and managing user-based network activity.
